Man dies in waters off California after wave sweeps couple into Pacific Ocean
PACIFICA, Calif. -- A 60-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon after he and a woman in Northern California were apparently swept into the ocean by a large wave, CBS San Francisco reports. The San Mateo County Coroner's Office said Larry Moore was pronounced dead at 3:20 p.m., about five minutes after he was pulled from the ocean by a U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmer. The Coast Guard responded to the incident around 2 p.m. and staged a water rescue near the Pacifica Pier after the couple was knocked into the water, according to Coast Guard Lt. Marcia Medina.
