It is also very hard to transition from a fission nuclear weapon to a hydrogen bomb. Year of intense research and development are required.

North Korea got some help from somewhere to develop such a terrible weapon. Let us look at the nations possessing the skill to make a hydrogen bomb. The only nation that might have shared such information is Pakistan. Several former US ambassadors to Pakistan have praised how securely their nuclear arsenal is kept. They would have no incentive to help a non-Muslim state.

The most likely suspects are some unemployed Russian engineers and scientist

Now North Korea can share the knowledge to build the hydrogen bomb with countries like Iran.

Kim Jung Un needs to be paranoid every minute. The USA is not the only government ready to take down his regime and kill him. China, Japan, Russia, and perhaps Israel have joined the list. It is only a mater of time until North Korea's nuclear program is violently stopped.

As serious as all this is, a key point is missed. North Korea is destitute. We have another group of players with very deep pockets indeed. Theses are the people wealthy with petro- dollars. They finance terrorists groups attacking the west. They have financed the civil war in Syria for years. North Korea has shown that these far-wealthier players could purchase everything up and including a hydrogen bomb.
