Four family members of a UC Berkeley baseball player — including his 14-year-old brother and father — were identified as the victims killed over the weekend when a drunken driver slammed into their car on Interstate 80 in San Pablo and fled the scene, officials said Monday.

Jared Horn, a 21-year-old sophomore pitcher, was also injured in the five-car wreck on Saturday night that claimed the lives of another father and son, Cal Athletics officials said.
Horn was treated at a nearby hospital and has since returned to his home in Napa, where he is recovering from his injuries.
The four victims were identified by the Contra Costa County coroner as Horn’s father, Daryl Horn, 50, and his brother, Joseph. Also killed were Daryl Horn’s brother-in-law, 52-year-old Troy Biddle, and Biddle’s 12-year-old son, Baden, both of Bainbridge Island, Wash.

A 47-year-old Sacramento man was arrested after colliding with four other cars on Interstate 80 Saturday night, killing four and injuring six, authorities said.
Biddle was a partner at Seattle law firm Carroll, Biddle & Bilanko. He coached youth baseball and basketball in his hometown.
“We cannot imagine what Jared is going through right now, and the thoughts and prayers of our entire Cal baseball community are with Jared and his family as they go through this time,” Cal baseball head coach Mike Neu said in a statement. “Jared is a respected and beloved member of our team as well as an incredible student-athlete, teammate and friend. We will give him any and all support that we can as he goes through this unthinkably difficult time.”
Brandon Carroll, a partner at Biddle’s firm, described him as a “model father, husband and community member.”
“We have been overwhelmed by support from the Seattle legal community, a testament to the man he was,” Carroll said.
In a statement from the Biddle and Horn families, provided by Carroll, the men were remembered as dedicated mentors with a passion for youth sports.
“Through the years, they have had a tremendous impact on the lives of young boys and girls that their communities will benefit from for generations,” the families said in their statement. “The dads and their boys spent their last day doing what they loved, playing in an annual father-son basketball tournament.”
Authorities arrested the alleged hit-and-run driver, 47-year-old Sacramento resident Fred Lowe, later Saturday. He was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, and hit and run.
Lowe fled the scene of the pileup in westbound lanes of the highway near San Pablo Dam Road, authorities said.
Six people, including Jared Horn, were injured in the crash.
Lowe is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility on $1.15 million bond.
