Our crews did a great job today. John Jollivette, Jr came early with his team. He did a lot of work on a new wall for the kitchen. John is a great civil engineer and knows all of the things about structural integrity that make or break a job. He was 40 years in the building business.
Mohamad and his work mate from Alansi Plumbing and Rooter worked all day long. There was a large jumble of plumbing off to the side of the kitchen. It had been put together over 70 years. Some of the connections did not even make sense. I'm sure that the work was not up to municipal codes. I saw two professionals with real craftsmanship do an incredible job. At the end of the day we had excellent copper pipe in place. I'm sure that it will pass inspection.
The electrical team also came ina nd did an excellent job of clearing out some old wiring from 70 years ago.
I think back to the first year of this house in 1941. I imagine it is Sunday December 7, 1941 and whoever owned this house at the time was sitting down for a Sunday lunch. Television was not around 70 years ago. So the family in the house most likely had the radio on. As they were getting ready for lunch they got the shock news that the Japanese had attacked Pearl Harbor.
At the end of the day I was physically and mentally exhausted. I did not even feel like eating dinner. It is wonderful to give this old house new life. It is also a very hard job for me.
