In Kantouken, The Japanese wouldve started the offensive by September 10th. They also wouldve used 1.2 million troops, hit the Soviet Fleet at Vladovistok, amphibious landings more north and the overall front wouldve been larger than the ones The Germans started.
The Trans Siberian railway was at some points within artillery range. With the double pincer they were planning they wouldve gotten the railway quick which would have cut Russia into 2. No troops or supplies going to Moscow.
Had they done this in early September The Soviets would not of had the troops to bring west or the supplies they were getting from the U.S. through Vladivostok. Stalin probably would have abandoned it as there would have been nothing he could do. However by November when The Germans were Moscows gates less troops would have been there to defend.
Even if The Soviets hold on Moscow still falls and with 20 percent of the country cut off and another 30 percent under occupation, once The Germans go south to get the oil things would be a lot dire for them.
