Saving Seton Medical Center

Saving Seton Medical Center
We have an economic Catch-22 here. This hospital is not economically-feasible. It constantly loses money. If it were closed, it would be a devastating blow to the community under normal circumstances. With the Coronavirus rearing its ugly head, it is a vital resource that must be kept open at all costs. San Mateo county is a rich county. But it does not have the financial resources to subsidize it. The current private owner is trying to "shake down the county" He has the county "between a rock and a hard place."
There is talk of creating a hospital district with some sort of new taxes to subsidize this. It would require voter approval and that will be hard to get right now.
I see a way forward. The State of California is awash with cash. Get them to "pitch in" money. California has an enemy in the White House now. Let us see what Congresswoman Jackie Speier and Senator Diane Feinstein can do to get some Federal money.
