Why I Support Occupy Wall Street

I've been mad for a long time! I've been mad when I see Americans being held slaves from the day they are born to the day they die by the ruthless and wealthy.

Let me define this slavery as follows:

1) When you are born a health insurance company decides if you get medical care and if your parents will be reimbursed for your birth. God help you if you have complications or need some very exotic surgery. These wealthy people controlling health insurance will look for any excuse to deny payment. You could easily dies right at birth at the whim of some wealthy person or company.

2) When you come in the world your mother and father will decide that the small apartment they live in is too small for a young family. They will decide to buy a house. Perhaps your family will be one of the fortunate few who can pay cash for a house. If they are not so fortunate, one of the wealthy Wall Street banks will decide if your mother and father get a home loan. They will look for any excuse to raise the interest rate or add other onerous conditions to improve their earnings and make life harder for your family.

3) When you get ready to go to school, your parents will have a lot of expenses. Perhaps your family will be a high income family and have the funds to buy all that you need for school. If not they will have to use credit cards from one of the big banks to finance your school things.

4) If you are fortunate enough to do well in school you will want to go to a good university and later a graduate school. Again perhaps your family is wealthy and can pay for all of this. If not you will have to borrow the money from one of the powerful banks or institutions. You will exit professional school some years later with a huge debt as high as $250,000.

This vicious cycle will go on from one generation to the next. While this goes on, the top 1% of society gets richer. The middle class disappears and we become a society with only rich and poor people.

The big banks and Wall Street firms have literally bought the US government and even some foreign governments. They have sold the people in power the erroneous idea that they are too big to fail. If they are allowed to fail, so their story goes, the entire economy will implode.

The French and Belgium governments burst this balloon of "too big to fail." Dexia Bank in Belgium was facing collapse. A  big Wall Street-like bailout was suggested. Instead the Europeans stood up with great courage and wisdom. They broke up Dexia Banks. The viable parts of the bank were sold to other financial institutions. The part with toxic assets was allowed to continue with Euro denominated bonds, The shareholders of the bank lost all. This is what should have been done with the mega banks in the USA!

I am fed up with big banks robbing everyone including my wife and I! I'm fed up to see big bankers and Wall Street people commit outlandish crimes and escape prosecution! When the authorities are asked why no Wall Street executives who caused this economic collapse are not being prosecuted, they come up with the lame excuse that the cases are so complex that a jury would never understand them. (The British overcame this objection by setting up special courts to hear such complex cases. Jury trials are not used. A very senior judge and two assessors with heave accounting and business training hear such cases,)

It is time for all of us to stand up and protest. It is time for all of us to take our democracy back! It is time for us to stop a collapse and a insurrection!
