Science Fiction Becomes Science Fact-Transmitting Power Wirelessly

Elena hates all of the cables that must be used to keep our high-technology society going. She dreams of the day when power will be transmitted by Bluetooth and the cables can go away. I am the real technology fan in the house. I thought that we were years away from such science fiction magic. Then I got a pleasant surprise. Elena has a huge problem is the part of our bedroom where her dresser is. It is very dark early in the morning. She cannot see properly to pick out her clothes to go to work. We decided to install an over head light. We called upon the excellent electrician who has worked with us a longtime-Alfredo Cruz of Franmore Electric here in Pacifica. He came out Thursday afternoon and did a careful survey. His conclusions were that a standard overhead light would not work there. We had an odd shaped low roof in that area. Then he came up with a proposal that was literally "thinking outside the box." He proposed installing a wireless power source to get power to a lamp. It would be controlled by a wireless switch. After he gave me more details, I approved his proposal and asked him to order the equipment. So now I know that electrical power can be transmitted by wireless means for very short distances. The time will come when power will be transmitted for long distances wirelessly. Science Fiction had become science Fact.
