A Helicopter Ride To An ICU With Beds

ICU's in hospitals in Southern California are full. The same is happening all over the US If a deathly ill patient needing an ICU bed comes in, he/she will have to be sent elsewhere. Most likely a helicopter will have to be used. I can remember that Elena and I were in Death Valley 10 years ago. We were warned that if we bot badly injured or really ill, a helicopter would have to come and take us to a hospital in Las Vegas. We were told that the bill would be $9,000. What would this same helicopter bill be today? Who pays it? I suspect the sick patient. Will medical insurance cover this? I think not.
