Elena and I are considering taking a trip to the Houston area in August. CNN featured an institution in Huntsville, Texas. It's the Huntsville Cafe. The main item on the menu is the killer burger. It is famous for a large bulletin board that is prominently displayed. Each time some unfortunate man or woman is executed nearby at the Walls Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, their facial image is cut out of their mug shot and it's pasted on the board. As of today the board has some 505 pictures. Many more will follow.
I made the following "gallows humor" comment to Elena:
"Honey we can have a killer burger for lunch at the Huntsville Cafe. We can then walk around Huntsville and tour Sam Houston State University. At six in the evening we can go over to the Walls Unit and watch an execution."
